EISCAT 3D Skibotn

The EISCAT 3D site in Skibotn, Norway is the main site of the EISCAT 3D system. The facility consists of 109 hexagonal antenna units in the main array, along with 10 outriggers placed around the site. The masts are for calibration, lights and lightning conductors. Still to be mounted is the radion frequency fence. This will ensure that there are no leakage of radio waves when transmitting.

The Skibotn site is the transmitter in the EISCAT 3D system. The receiving sites are in Karesuvanto, Finland och Kaiseniemi, Sweden. This site is also twice as big as the ones in Finland and Sweden.
