The EISCAT Council

The EISCAT Council is the governing body of EISCAT Scientific Association and has an overall responsibility for the activities of the Association. The Council consists of a Delegation, with a maximum of three persons from each Associate. A Delegation consists of a Delegate and Representatives. The Delegates are the formal members of Council. The Council and the Association is governed by a set of rules included in the EISCAT BlueBook.

Latest updates

June 2024: The 102nd Regular Council meeting was held 4 – 5 June 2024 at the National Institute of Polar Research in Tachikawa, Tokyo, Japan. A summary from the meeting, the Council Short Report, will be published later. The EISCAT Annual Financial Report 2023 was approved by Council at the meeting and has now been published. A follow-on meeting will be held in September and the 103rd regular Council meeting will be held in Sweden.

Council Meetings

Council normally meets twice a year, in spring and autumn. The Council meetings are organised by the Associates in a rotating manner. The rotation follows usually the listing in the Agreement (after the introduction of United Kingdom Research and Innovation, UKRI instead of NERC): P.
