New recruitment in EISCAT Svalbard
Trond Sandmo has started in October and will be working with the maintenance of the EISCAT Svalbard Radar (Svalbard, Norway).
Trond has a degree as an engineer in electronics from Sør-Trøndelag University and has long experience from working in the space technology sector.
“I have beside a few exceptions worked in space technology since 1998 when I got my degree. I spent seventeen years in Kongsberg Satellite Services (satellite communication) and after that, three years at The Mapping Authority in the world’s northernmost permanent settlement: Ny-Ålesund (Geodesy / VLBI). I have had several roles through the last twenty years, but operation and maintenance is a recurring theme.”
“I am an outdoorsy person, from a small place in northern Norway not far from Mo i Rana. What lured me to Svalbard in 2008 was the great wild nature and landscape. I like to hike and usually explore Svalbard by snowmobile in the winter and by boat in summer, both multi-day cabin tours and shorter day tours. These tours are most often combined with other big interests of mine: hunting, fishing and photography.”
We welcome Trond to our team.
