Prof. Craig Heinselman awarded with the Beynon medal

The EISCAT Council awards distinguished persons the Sir Granville Beynon medal as a recognition of their important work for and with EISCAT Scientific Association and EISCAT data.

The recipient for the 10th Beynon medal is Professor Craig Heinselman.

In recognition of outstanding services to the EISCAT  Scientific Association and his invaluable contribution to the establishment of the EISCAT_3D radar – The EISCAT Council

Prof. Heinselman was the 7th director of EISCAT, between the years 2012-2022, and was an important part in the work with EISCAT_3D. Prof. Heinselman’s knowledge and experience from earlier work with different radar stations in the most remote locations was of great value in the development, construction and design of EISCAT_3D. In addition to the scientific and practical knowledge, Prof. Heinselman provided EISCAT with a firm leadership, a great sence of humor and a variety of great pictures from all our facilities.
