The new EISCAT Director

The EISCAT Council has selected Dr. Axel Steuwer as the next EISCAT director starting January 1, 2023 for five years. Dr. Steuwer will work in the EISCAT Association as director designate from May 1, 2022 until December 31, 2022.
Dr. Steuwer has a background in Material Sciences with more than 20 years of experience working at or for several international large-scale scientific infrastructures, e.g. the Max IV Laboratory and the European Spallation Source in Lund, Sweden amongst others. Most recently he has been working as Director of Research Support Services at University of Malta. He took his MSc degree in Physics at Cologne University, Germany, and his PhD degree in Materials Science at Cambridge University, UK.
