Calibration antenna installation
In the end of October, the maintenance team installed our first calibration antenna in one of the masts surrounding the main antenna in Kaiseniemi, Sweden. The masts are very high and the job is not for everyone, but Magnus got the thrilling job done as it was nothing.
The masts have several functions, calibration is one. They also serve as lightning conductors and as a place for us to mount lights, surveillance equipment and other instruments. Visual surveillance is important for checking snow and ice conditions and checking that the antenna area is clear before the antenna is started.
