EISCAT Symposium

The International EISCAT Symposium has, over the years, become the major conference on incoherent scatter radar. The next symposium will take place in at the University of Oulu in the City of Oulu, Finland, from 19th to 23rd August 2019.

This year, the symposium will be held jointly with the 46th Annual European Meeting on Atmospheric Studies by Optical Methods (46AM, also known as “The Optical Meeting”).

Submissions

Submissions related to: Novel Instruments and Methods, Aurora, Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere Studies, Space Weather, Mesosphere, D-region, Airglow, Noctilucent Clouds, Meteors, Active Experiments and Plasma Physics, Aerosols and Clouds, Transient Luminous Events, and Atmospheric Electricity, are encouraged.

Deadline for registration and abstract submission has been extended to 12th June 2019.

Scientific Programme

The conference will have five joint sessions:

1. Novel Instruments and Methods: EISCAT_3D and Optical Instruments, incl. infrastructures, instruments and missions (A Aikio, I McCrea)
2. Aurora, Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere Studies and Space Weather (Y Ogawa, D Whiter)

4. Active Experiments and Plasma Physics (B Gustavsson, M Rietveld)
5. Aerosols and Clouds, Transient Luminous Events, and Atmospheric Electricity (O van der Velde)
